It has always been a high competition between the Android tablets against each other, and against the Apple iPad and since the 7-inch versions too have come up from each of its makers, the other brands haven’t kept themselves away, with the Kindle Fire from Amazon, and now Lenovo coming up with another good device, the Smart Tab 2 through the Vodafone UK network. The company has partnered with the Vodafone in UK and are looking focused in bringing something special with the Smart Tab 2 Android Tablet.
One of the tablets that Lenovo already has in the market, and which looks almost similar to the Smart Tab 2 is the Lenovo IdeaTab A2107 which has almost the similar exterior and the internal specifications are not very much different, thus making it look like the variant for the Vodafone UK network. Not a real powerful device, as the Smart Tab 2 has a single-core 1 GHz MTK6575 processor and 1 GB of RAM, and it has got the 3G connectivity through the Vodafone network.
The on-board memory in the Smart Tab 2 is just 4GB, and we haven’t seen any higher memory variant although the A2107 IdeaTab had the 8GB and 16GB variants too, but that wouldn’t be an issue as the storage isn’t limited and you could expand it using the MicroSD support. The 7-inch screen of the Smart Tab 2 has got a screen resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and the battery of the Smart Tab 2 has a capacity of 3550 mAh which is good enough to work on a single charge for 8-10 hours. A bit of disappointment would be with the operating system, where Lenovo didn’t work to include the Android 4.1, but has included the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS in it.
There are two cameras, the 2-megapixel camera on the rear side and a 0.3-megapixel on the front. The connectivity options included are Wi-Fi b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 3.0, and GPS. The pricing is £29 if you are binding yourself to the Vodafone UK network for 24 months through a contract, and if you opt not to go with the contract, it would cost you £150 for the Smart Tab 2. It comes with quite some good accessories, and there are Hard covers also available along with it if you choose to use them.
When mentioning so well about the price, the question is, whether the Smart Tab 2 from Lenovo would be able to compete well against the Asus Nexus 7 Tablet device that was recently announced with the latest Android OS in it.
Apart from the 7-inch variant from Lenovo and Vodafone UK together, there is another tablet coming out soon which would be the 10-inch Smart Tab 2 with a bit higher screen resolution, a dual-core processor clocking at 1.5GHz and many other improved features including the larger 6340 mAh battery, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 16Gb internal memory.
