Samsung Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note II have been the best smartphone and phablet devices in the market right now, competing some of the other giants, but now taking the screen size into consideration, Samsung has decided to come up with a mutant of both, with the name Samsung Galaxy Grand, codenamed Baffin. The Galaxy Grand is expected to launch in the end of this November month, and although this seems to be larger than the Galaxy S III, the screen resolution is lower than it, with just 480 x 800 pixels.
Here are a few specifications that were leaked, through one of the Korean sources:
- 5-inch touchscreen WVGA LCD display
- 480 x 800 pixels screen resolution
- Exynos 4412 Quad-Core 1.4Ghz Processor
- Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean OS
- Near field communication (NFC) support
- Wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n
- 2100 mAh Battery
- LTE 4G connectivity support
The Grand looks totally similar to the Galaxy S III in terms of design and looks, but is larger by a few mm and there are upgrades and downgrades in the various specs, while the operating system with which it is expected to come, is the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean OS so it won’t be a surprise if we see an update to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS.
Samsung hasn’t kept the performance any less, because the Grand is coming with a quad-core processor that clocks at 1.4GHz speed, and given the other specs this is surely going to enter the list of the best 5-inch Androidsmartphones, but what we are totally unsure about, is the pricing of the phone.

The Korean language does suggest that the expected price could be somewhere around 800,000 won ($732), but if that’s true then the phone wouldn’t attract much customers because there have been millions using the Galaxy S III and the Note II already, and one would think many times before trying to go for a larger option than the Galaxy S3, and a bit smaller than the Note II.
With the quad-core processor, the latest Android OS, LTE connectivity and the 5-inch screen, would the Galaxy Grand be one of the devices in your must-check-out list before making a final decision?
